Austin in lockdown: Public artworks

I have already discussed how much I love the photo adventures curated by my partner in crime. We drive around the dark corners of Austin, TX, on a Sunday morning, coffee in hand and something appropriate on the radio.

During COVID, these adventures took on more importance as (a) we weren’t going out much, so this was a time to really clear the cobwebs, and (b) Austin was changing. The city was reacting to the disease, the fear, the isolation, and that was reflected in the new art we found.

There were 4 broad categories.

1. The mask art.

2. The community support artwork.

3. The political artwork.

4. And the commentary from political groups and businesses.
